In C.S. Lewis' autobiography, Surprised by Joy, he referred to various experiences as signposts to God. Among these are joy, gratitude and awe. These and similar experiences lift us above merely material experience. Consider Bishop Barron's take on some additional signposts to God. Consider these proofs for the existence of God.

God's face is hidden from us, but still signposts directing our attention to him are present in our daily lives. When we think about 'proofs' for the existence of God, no one proof seems to be the clincher for everyone. Some people react differently to different ideas about proof for God. One helpful idea is the idea of 'circumstantial evidence.' In a court trial, there is often a lack of clinching direct evidence. Either an eye witnesses credibility is harmed, or a DNA test might have been corrupted. Often, trials are decided on the entirety of the evidence including circumstantial evidence.
