Robert Peter Andersen (Bob) of Oro Valley, AZ returned home to the Lord on Wednesday October 5, 2016. Bob was born in Chicago, IL on February 15, 1933 to Cecilia H. (Kalita) and Earl W. Andersen. Bob had a younger brother named Richard. After graduation from Kenosha High School in Kenosha, WI, Bob enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. Bob credited the Marines for instilling discipline and a strong work ethic he used throughout his life.
After the Marines Bob enrolled at Loyola University in Chicago where he earned a Bachelor's degree. It was here that he met Joan Rauch who worked after graduation as a Registered Nurse (RN). They were married in Chicago on September 7, 1957 and had four children; Cynthia, Robert, Mark and Scott.
Bob enjoyed a career in magazine publishing and printing, and worked on titles including Time, Sports Illustrated, Hot Rod, Motor Trend, Cuisine, Physics Today, Ladies Home Journal and many more. Before finally settling in Oro Valley in the early 2000's, Joan and Bob had lived in Glendale, CA, Santa Barbara CA, Effingham, IL, Nashville, TN and Northport, NY.
Bob was predeceased by his father Earl, his mother Cecilia, his brother Richard, his wife Joan and his son Mark. He is survived by his daughter Cynthia, son Robert, daughter-in-law Naomi, son Scott, granddaughters Elizabeth, Ashley and Sarah and grandsons Ethan and Brian. He was loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
