Sandra “Sandy” Mundinger passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2023 after a courageous fight with ovarian cancer.Sandy was born on July 3, 1940 in Jersey City, NJ to the parents of Stephen and Bertha Gyurick. Her family later moved to Raritan, NJ, where she graduated from Somerville High School in 1958. She started her career as an executive assistant with RCA Corp and then became a flight attendant for Trans World Airlines in New York City. That job moved her to the San Francisco area in 1962, where she met the man who would become her husband of 40 years, Thomas Mundinger. They were married in Burlingame, CA in 1965 and later relocated to Tucson, AZ where they settled and spent the rest of their lives.
Sandy is survived by her daughter, Jill (Walton) and Jill’s husband, David, and their two children, Justin Thomas and Julia Morgan. Her daughter and grandchildren were significant highlights of her life, along with her many “furry children” she had over the years, as she was a HUGE animal lover. She dedicated much of her time to a variety of Catholic charities and related volunteer groups, as well as the Pima County Humane Society.
On Thursday, July 27, 2023, a Rosary and Visitation will be held at 10am at St. Mark Catholic Church at 2727 W. Tangerine Rd., Oro Valley, AZ 85742. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30am.
