Maria Ruiz was born on November 28, 1928, in Medellin Colombia, S.A., and passed away in Tucson, Arizona at the age of 93 years old.
Maria was very faithful and dedicated to prayer. The most important activities for her were praying the Rosary, reading her bible, and saying the Divine Mercy Chaplet among other devotions. She enjoyed going to Mass to receive Holy Communion and visiting the Blessed Sacrament.
Maria also loved teaching catechism. For many years, she was the Religious Education Coordinator at the Most Holy Redeemer Church in East Boston, Massachusetts. When she arrived in Tucson in 1999, she began teaching Religious Education in Spanish at Holy Family and St Christopher’s in Marana.
She was a dedicated, loving, and excellent mother to Magnolia Wirth (Steve Wirth) and grandmother to her two grandchildren, Steven and Rebecca. She was also a beloved sister and aunt to her many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. She always loved to tell stories of her growing up and experiences of her life. She was a very clever person and always found solutions for those seeking her advice.
A rosary and funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 2727 W. Tangerine Road, Oro Valley, AZ. 85737.
Those wishing to do so may contribute in her memory to the American Diabetes Association or American Stroke Association.
