Lois Odenweller, 92 years old, passed away at her home surrounded by family in the early evening on November 30, 2022. She lived long and well and repeatedly told us that she loved the life she lived – I was blessed with a wonderful life, don’t cry for me. Just weeks ago, she was on the golf course with her much loved Chix with Sticks group. When asked her secret to living so well, she would reply “just say yes”. So muh spirit, that one!
Lois grew up Michigan, the middle sister of five plus her younger brother. She attended school in Ypsilanti and soon after met the love of her life, Joe, while stopping for a soda on the way home from the movies. Their seventy years together was a real love story. They moved to Birmingham and raised nine noisy children together. Lois was a “doer”. You rarely caught her standing still. She constantly took on projects from upholstery to wallpaper to cub scout leader to building bonfires at their cabin in northern Michigan.
Lois and Joe spent their later years in Louisiana, Florida and Arizona. In addition to her family, she loved to play bridge (Sapphire Life Master) and golf. She treasured the community of her great many friends.
She is survived by her nine children; Laura Holochwost (Alan), Linda Perry (David), Joe Odenweller (Fae), Sharon Gillam (Chuck), Mary Roberts (Jack), Rich Odenweller (Kathe), Charles Odenweller, Bob Odenweller (Terri), Jeff Odenweller (John); 19 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and her siblings Betty Wilkins, Barbara Ford and Lyle Marushak.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday January 28, 2023, 10 am at St Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 2727 W Tangerine Rd. Oro Valley, AZ.
