Evelyn Malone of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on January 16, 2020, after a brief illness. Evelyn was born March 15, 1933, in Green, Kansas, daughter of Thomas Michael Crimmins and Loretta O'Donnell Crimmins. She was the middle child of five and was preceded in death by her parents, older brother and his wife, Thomas and Melvina Crimmins, older sister and her husband, Margaret and Wilfrid Wurtz, and nephews Michael Crimmins, Mike Johnston, and Mark Johnston. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles John Malone, siblings and spouses Lorene and Robert Nelson, and Joseph and Sandy Crimmins, five children and spouses (John and Pam Malone; Kevin and Anne Marie Malone; Daniel and Rebecca Malone; Mike and Kelli Malone; and Kathleen and Donald Pierce), 14 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Other surviving family members by marriage include Patricia and Thomas Johnston, and Thomas and Dorothy Malone.
Evelyn was known for her exquisite kindness and concern for others. She was a registered nurse specializing in the care of oncology patients. Her peach and cherry pies were famous among the family and revered for her cooking talents.
Evelyn grew up on a farm near Clay Center, Kansas. She attended a one-room school in rural Kansas and became a registered nurse in 1956. She enlisted in the Navy and served at Bethesda Naval Hospital. She met Charles in Washington, D.C., and they were married in November of 1958. Over her life, she and Charles lived in Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, and Arizona.
Funeral services will be held on February 8, 2020, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 2727 W. Tangerine Road, Oro Valley, AZ 85742. A rosary is at 9:30, and the funeral mass is at 10:00 am. A reception will follow the services (reception information will be provided at the funeral).
