Casper Cherardi, 97, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2019. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 11, 1922, to Josephine (Ricupa) and Antonio Cherardi.
Casper was married to Barbara E. Cherardi on June 21, 1952, at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Chicago, IL where Barbara went to grade school. Casper had lived next door to Barbara a year or more before they met. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church and School until the 8
th grade and later went to Lane Tech High School in Chicago.
He leaves behind his children: Karen Bybee, Mary Conlin, Debbie Tharge and Barbara J. Cherardi; grandchildren: Kurt, Jesse, and Tim Bischoffer; Rick, Jim, Laura Meyers, and Michael Conlin; and Marie McDonald; Phillip Roush; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He worked as a tool and dye maker in the 1940s. He trained and raced horses a couple of years but ultimately retired from the Carpenters Union as a construction superintendent before moving to Arizona. Casper enjoyed a good spaghetti dinner, watching National Geographic and 60 Minutes on Sunday nights. His favorite past-times included putting together puzzles and playing cards, and he could build anything with ease.
Casper loved to spend time with his family, which included his 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
A memorial Mass will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2019, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 2727 W. Tangerine Road, Oro Valley, AZ.
