PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2017
PASTOR REPORT
The recent mortgage principle reduction effort was a success with approximately $250,000 being donated to reduce the outstanding principle balance on the church
Based on the current payment schedule we are on track to pay off the mortgage in approximately 7 ½ years, if the next debt reduction effort brings in a similar amount as the last, that timeframe would be reduced to approximately 5 years
A new Administrative Assistant has been hired
GENERAL BUSINESS
It was agreed that the April Pastoral Council meeting will not be held in order to allow all members to focus on Holy Week activities; individual Councils may meet at their discretion but are asked to schedule meeting times and locations with the office staff if they do choose to meet
Parish Councils will collectively host the Lenten Soup Supper on April 7; sign-up sheet will be distributed
CARE & JUSTICE
The recent Casa Maria clothing drive was a great success with in excess of 85 large bags and boxes of clothing donated
Continuing to explore volunteer opportunities through the Pima County “Bridges Out of Poverty” program – looking into teaming with volunteers at St. Cyril parish who are also involved with the program
FACILITIES
Annual facilities walk-through was completed in early February
Grounds and church clean-ups are scheduled for March 4
Chapel door replacement project is moving forward; in the process of making final materials selections
Pergola project at the chapel doors is also moving forward; currently waiting for pricing from contractor
FAITH FORMATION
Council is formulating ideas to celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday; will discuss their ideas with staff and determine how best to implement
FINANCE

STEWARDSHIP
The recent Ministry Fair did not result in many new volunteer contacts; the Council is exploring options for volunteer recruitment
WORSHIP
Continuing study of the Second Vatican Council document Sacrosanctum Concilium, the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy
Discussion of church décor options for Christmas and other major feasts
