It is with great sadness that the family of William Robert Galis announces his peaceful passing Sunday, May 2, 2021. Born on April 10, 1929, he was 92 years old. We will all miss his love of music, sarcastic wit, and sense of humor along with his distinguished Clint Eastwood-like voice.
Bill’s parents came to this country from Czechoslovakia in the early 1900s via Ellis Island. His father was a banker and his mother a homemaker. Bill was a native of Chicago. He was a graduate of De Paul University and earned a master’s degree in Business from Chicago University. Bill was a very successful executive and businessman for every company he worked for including Helene Curtis, Fingerhut, and Babbitts. He was a Master of Finance and had a hearts always open and ready to help a family member in need.
Bill enjoyed golfing, skiing, tennis, sailing, playing his guitar, and singing to all kinds of music. King of the Road was his signature song.
Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Diana of 40 years and his children, Gayle (Michael), Barbara (Mark), Jennifer (Eric), Jonathon, Jodi, and his stepchildren, Bill and Michael (Kelly), his grandchildren Chris, Ben, Chad, Grace, Kayla, Alison, Katie, Nick and Danny, and all his extended family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 2727 W. Tangerine Road, Oro Valley, AZ.
