Oscar was born to be a salesman. He loved the art of the deal! He loved being around people, he KNEW people, he knew what people wanted.
Oscar’s life began on April 10, 1943 in Tucson. Oscar was the oldest of 7 siblings. Being the oldest, Oscar often had to babysit his siblings. It was after he had to hose down his poop covered twin brothers, that he decided he wasn’t made to have children. Even though he wasn’t a father, Oscar was a father figure to his nieces, nephews and Godchildren. Oscar made sure that his siblings, nieces and nephews were all taken care of. He always told us, “If you have a problem, come to me and I will take care of it.”
At 18 years old, Oscar enlisted in the Navy. He loved that the Navy afforded him the ability to see the world! He was in the Navy for 2 years and decided that he didn’t like being told what to do and wanted to be in control of his own destiny. Upon returning home, Oscar worked as an electrician, but wasn’t passionate about it, he knew he was meant for something more. So he decided to change careers and threw all of his energy into becoming a realtor. Oscar built Ramirez Realty from the ground up and willed into a successful business. Oscar was one of the most experienced realtors and his expertise was a highly sought commodity from clients across the country. Oscar became a pilar in the Tucson realty community and mentored so many realtors over his 50+ year career. Oscar settled in at Long Realty for the last 20+ years and worked until his passing.
At the young age of 44 years old, Oscar met the love his life, Maria, and spent the next 2 years pursuing her. He had his work cut out for him because Maria did everything, she could to avoid him. She stood him up several times, but Oscar knew that she was the one for him. Maria finally gave in and went to dinner with him. Oscar’s confidence, sense of humor, wisdom, sexiness and chivalry blew her away! Oscar was a hopeless romantic, he told Maria to hold out her hand, and he placed his hand on hers and said: “This is my heart, take care of it, don’t break it" And that is how a 35 year love story began.
Oscar and Maria spent 35 years living life to the fullest and traveling to Europe, the Middle East and other exciting places. Oscar was a history buff and enjoyed seeing the history of any town. Oscar was the life of the party and his smile lit up any room! Oscar was a hard worker, once he put his mind to something, all obstacles laid down for him.
On September 18, 2024, sadly we lost Oscar and Heaven gained an angel. Oscar is survived by his wife Maria, his siblings Octavio, Teresa, Omar, Olivia and numerous nieces and nephews. We will miss Oscar’s love, compassion, positivity and smile. We are grateful for the time we had with Oscar and all the memories we made.
