Passed away peacefully in her daughters' home in Oro Valley, Arizona on June 9, 2021 at the age of 96 years old.
Fedora “Blanca” was born in Sonora, Mexico on February 27, 1925 to German immigrant Wilhelm H. Fischer and Simona Avalos Cardoza, a native of Sonora, Mexico. The sixth of seven children, Fedora spent her childhood on the family cattle ranch, “San Jose del Cibuta”, in Sonora, Mexico.
On August 7, 1947 Fedora married Rogelio Rubio Thomé at the Purisima Concepcion Catholic Church in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. Together they had four children and a marriage which spanned 65 years.
Fedora was an avid crafter with a flair for creativity and enjoyed teaching her knowledge and skills. She was also passionate about the outdoors and enjoyed taking long road trips with her husband. Fedora was especially passionate about promoting education and instilling a love of learning in her children and grandchildren.
Fedora’s memory will be treasured and kept alive by her four children Sylvia, Guadalupe, Astrid and Marco Antonio (Mary); seven grandchildren Bianca (Greg), Marco (Daniella), Denise, Guillermo (Crystal), Kevin, Francia, and Jasmin; six great-grandchildren; and her sister Alma Alejandrina. She will be welcomed in eternal glory by her parents Wilhelm and Simona; husband Rogelio; siblings Guillermo, Lillian Beatriz, Olga Wilhelmine, Azucena, and Manuel Francisco (aka Frankie).
Fedora “Blanca” Fischer Rubio will be forever remembered for her gentle and ever-present love, her deep spirituality, her deep sense of selflessness as well as her compassion for all.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at a funeral Mass to be held on October 29, 2021 at 10:30 am, St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 2727 W. Tangerine Rd., Oro Valley, Arizona 85742. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705.
