Dee Paula Subran Johnson, 73, passed away on Friday May 15th, peacefully at home, surrounded by family. Dee was born on June 18, 1946 to John and Angela Subran. She was a loving and faithful wife of 38 years to Jessie Johnson, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Kwesi Hazel, and daughter-in-law, Kari Hazel, who loved and cared for her in her last 15 months. Her grandchildren, Brittney (29), Skyler (25)- who also cared for her, Bleu (24), Seven (21), Jayden (19), and youngest grandchild- Star (16); and her great grandchild Phoenix (son of Bleu); as well as her brothers Kevern, Gary, Bertrand, Russell and her sisters: Karen, Veronica and their spouses. Sisters Veronica and Enid preceded her in death.
Dee took life by the horns and did it her own way. Forever the hostess, she loved to throw football parties and kept her guests’ glasses full, plates heavy and laughter in the air. She loved her family and friends. Her heart belonged to her grandchildren and each had a special relationship with her. There wasn’t a song she didn’t love to sing. She would put on her headphones, start her favorite songs and melt into the music.
Dee was loved by many and will be missed by all. We love you.
There will be a funeral Mass on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 10:30 am at St. Mark Catholic Church, 2727 W. Tangerine Road, Oro Valley, AZ.
