November 8: The Nicene Creed and the Church's Authority to Teach

The Church claims the authority to teach the Gospel in an authentic manner. The authority comes from Christ. The teaching is authentic because the New Testament are the Church's scriptures. The word 'authentic' has the same root as the word "author." Why must authority be authentic?
