Eva Maria Kicanas (nee Abdella) of Palatine, IL, age 105, born June 27, 1912 in St. Paul, Minnesota to her late parents, Abraham and Anna Abdella (nee Sadie), was called home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Fred J. Kicanas, married on August 22, 1937 at the Cathedral of St. Paul. They were married for 48 blessed years. Loving mother of Kathryn Kerwin, Most Reverend Gerald Kicanas-Apostolic Administrator of Tucson, and Barbara (Robert) Yarbrough. Cherished grandmother of Teresa (Mark) Fleishman, Paul, Karl (Laurie), Michael (Jenny) Kerwin, Amy (Christian) Jacquat, and Steve Yarbrough. Proud great grandmother of Kisa (Pat) Cullen; Sara, Eric, and Nina Fleishman; Zoe, Quinn, Felix Jacquat; Andrea, Alex, and Joseph Kerwin. Aunt and great aunt too many. Her family was blessed to have had the joy of Eva’s long life of 105 years. Eva was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well as being an incredible master of Lebanese cooking and pumpkin chiffon pies. She was a dedicated Catholic who lived her faith in her care of her family.
Visitation Monday, October 9 from 9:00am until 10:30. Rosary 10:30-10:45 and Funeral Mass at 11:00am, honoring her life, celebrated by her son, Bishop Gerald Kicanas, Apostolic Administrator of Tucson, at Little Sisters of the Poor-Palatine, 80 West Northwest Highway, Palatine, IL 60067.
